And The Winners Of The New Jersey Sandcastle Contest Are....A Toilet And A Sink

30th annual event sponsored by D'Jais held Wednesday on Belmar beach.

There were plenty of entries in Wednesday's 30th annual New Jersey Sandcastle Contest on the beach in Belmar.

But none caught the judges' eyes like the winner - a toilet and a sink - sculpted by two plumbers from Monmouth County and their family and friends - according to nj.com.

"Who would've thought?" said Frank Sementa, owner of d'Jais and the organizer of the event. "But they did a great job, it was very creative."

This year's contest entries included large cartoon turtles, an elephant, a lifeguard Hello Kitty, an interactive horse-drawn chariot and intricate sandcastles.

"We're here every year," said Chris Kristen of Brick. "He (Andrew Guarrera) usually does traditional castles and I usually do sand sculptures, so this year we decided to team up and do a bathroom. We ran into a little trouble when we changed our form on the toilet from a round one to a square one, because we couldn't get it packed. ... But we've had non-stop people taking pictures of it since we started, so I think it turned out well."
