Woman Charged With Murder In Stabbing Death Of Neptune Man

Stabbing took place during a dispute in an apartment, police said.

A Neptune Township woman is lodged in the Monmouth County Jail in lieu on $1 million cash bail after she was charged in the stabbing death of a township man on Sunday night, Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni said.

Monique Moore, 24, was charged with first degree murder as well as third degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose after the stabbing at an apartment in Building 1 at 1130 Heck Avenue, he said.

Neptune police received a number of 911 calls at 11:02 p.m. on Nov. 27 reporting a stabbing. When they arrived, they found the victim, Joseph A. Wilson, 29, of Neptune outside near the apartment, Gramiccioni said.

Wilson was gravely injured and police and Neptune Emergency Medical Services began lifesaving efforts during his transport to Jersey Shore University Medical Center. But he was pronounced dead at 12:45 a.m. on Nov. 28, Gramiccioni said.

Neptune Township Police and the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office soon determined that Wilson had been stabbed by Moore during a dispute they were having inside her apartment, he said.

Moore faces a minimum sentence of 30 years in state prison. She would be subject to the "No Early Release Act." She must serve 85 percent of any sentence imposed in excess of 30 years prior to becoming eligible for parole. If convicted of possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, Moore faces three to five years imprisonment if convicted of possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, Gramiccioni said.
