22-Year-Old Missing For A Week In Ocean County; Have You Seen Him?

JACKSON, NJ — Authorities are continuing to search for a 22-year-old Jackson Township man who went missing a week ago.

Mortimer Wortman, whom police said is considered missing and endangered, was last seen about 10:30 p.m. on Nov. 21 near the Collier Mills Wildlife Management Area in the woods near High Bridge Road, Jackson police said.

He was wearing a black T-shirt, a burgundy hoodie and blue jeans. He is 5-foot-10, about 200 pounds and has light skin, dark brown hair, brown eyes, a nose piercing and several earrings in each ear, police said.

His car was found in the parking lot of the Regional Day School in Jackson, not far from the home of Wortman's mother, News 12 New Jersey reported. High Bridge Road runs behind the school, which is part of the Manchester Township School District and educates special needs students with developmental disabilities up to age 21.

There have been multiple searches in that area, the News 12 report said.

A GoFundMe campaign has been set up to raise money to pay for a private investigator to keep searching for Wortman in addition to the efforts of law enforcement.

Rutgers University issued a statement Friday saying Wortman is a student at the university, NJ.com reported.

Jackson Township police are urging anyone with information on Wortman or his whereabouts to call the police department at 732-928-1111 and press “0” to speak with a dispatcher.
