3rd Inmate Dies At Fort Dix Federal Prison In 2025, Report Says

The prisoner was found unresponsive in the early morning hours, according to the report.

An inmate from Puerto Rico died Saturday at the federal prison at Fort Dix, according to a report.

Jarette Morales, 25, was found about 2:15 a.m. and pronounced dead shortly afterward, NJ.com reported. He was serving a 6-year, 4-month sentence for drug dealing in Puerto Rico, the report said.

Prison officials did not say where he was found or if there was any indication of the cause of death, the report said.

Morales is the third prisoner to die at Fort Dix in 2025.

In April, Marcos Sanchez-Santana, 34, was found unresponsive about 3:15 a.m. and pronounced dead after attempts to revive him failed. He was serving a 10-year federal prison sentence for conspiracy to import cocaine when he died, prison officials said.

In March, Javier Francisco Villalba-Reyes, also 34, was found unresponsive and efforts to resuscitate him failed. He was serving a four-year sentence for possession with intent to distribute cocaine and had been at Fort Dix for just over a month, prison officials said.
