Icy Forecast Prompts Delayed Opening Jan. 17 For Manchester Schools

Frigid temperatures are expected to make surfaces very slick in the morning, the National Weather Service said.

MANCHESTER, NJ — Frigid temperatures that are expected to create icy conditions well into the morning commute have prompted a delayed opening again Wednesday for the Manchester Township School District.

"Due to inclement weather conditions, and to ensure the safety of our students & staff, all Manchester Township Schools including Regional Day School will have a 90-Minute Delayed Opening on January 17th," the district said.

All before-school activities including morning Y- Kids are canceled.

"Untreated water and slush will almost certainly become rock-hard by morning as temps drop well into the teens across most of the area tonight," the National Weather Service Mount Holly office said Tuesday evening. "In addition, winds will make it feel 10-15 degrees colder! Bundle up!"
