Man Hospitalized After SUV Hits Utility Pole, Tree In Manchester

Police said the Whiting resident appeared to have suffered a medical episode prior to the crash.

MANCHESTER, NJ — A Manchester Township man was seriously injured Friday in a crash on Route 530 in the Whiting section, Manchester police said.

Pasquale Foggio, 72, was flown to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune following the crash, which was reported at 6:23 p.m., Manchester Capt. Vincent Manco said. He was listed as stable.

Foggio was driving east in a gray 2010 Cadillac Escalade when the Cadillac went off the road near Crestwood Parkway, hitting a traffic sign and utility pole support wire, then continuing on before hitting a signboard and coming to a stop after hitting a tree, Manco said.

Authorities believe Foggio suffered a medical event before the crash. The road was partially closed during the cleanup.

Assisting at the scene were emergency medical technicians from the Manchester Township Division of Emergency Services, Whiting Volunteer Fire Department, Joint Base Fire Department, paramedics from Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Life-Flight Medevac helicopter and Priced Rite Towing.
