Manchester’s Shay Juralewicz Balances Brains And Breakaways
Salutatorian, soccer captain and community leader, Shay is now taking her talents to Emerson College and the field of speech therapy.

From varsity soccer to AP exams to community service hours, Shay Juralewicz made the most of her time at Manchester Township High School — with every chapter building on the last. Ranked second in her class, Shay graduated as salutatorian and was named Ocean County Student of the Week in 2024 for her academic performance, leadership and involvement. A four-year member of the Hawks soccer team and two-time captain and MVP, she now plays midfield for Emerson College while majoring in Communication Sciences and Disorders.
Shay's high school resume reads like a highlight reel. She was named Student of the Year in both English and Biology, recognized for scoring 4s and 5s on multiple AP exams and served as an AP Ambassador. She also earned the National Community Service Merit Award and volunteered more than 100 hours across causes, including quality education and public health. From National Honor Society to Habitat for Humanity, she found ways to lead inside and outside the classroom.
And when it came time to put her creativity to the test, Shay stepped up as part of a team that placed third out of 30 schools in Ocean County College’s “Sink or Swim” entrepreneurial competition. With her sights now set on becoming a speech-language pathologist, she continues to carry the same energy, intellect and compassion into her next chapter — whether she’s on the field, in the lab or advocating for others.
The future is certainly looking bright in Manchester! If you know another Star Student making an impact, nominate them today to be featured on Patch!
