Manchester Woman Killed As Jeep Hits Trees On Route 539

The woman was headed north on Route 539 when the Jeep Liberty went off the road and overturned, police said.

LACEY, NJ — A Manchester Township woman died Saturday after her Jeep Liberty crashed into trees along Route 539 in Lacey, police said.

Rosemary Pfluge, 72, of the Whiting section of Manchester, was driving north on Route 539 in a gray 2012 Jeep Liberty about 11:30 p.m. Saturday when it ran off the road, hit several trees and overturned, Lacey Capt. Paul Sullivan Jr. said.

Pfluge suffered serious injuries and had to be extricated by members of the Forked River Fire Department and Whiting Fire Department, Sullivan said. She was taken to Community Medical Center in Toms River, where she was later pronounced dead, he said.

Lacey Township Police, Manchester Township Police, Forked River Fire, Whiting Fire Department RWJ Paramedics and Lacey EMS responded to the crash, Sullivan said.
