Students Can Honor Teachers In Essay Contest At Manchester Applebee's

The Above and 'BEE'yond Teacher Essay Contest is accepting entries through March 17; students can get ice cream certificates for essays.

BRICK, NJ — If your kids have a teacher who inspires them or makes them really enjoy learning, the Applebee's Neighborhood Grill & Bar in Brick wants to hear about them.

Local Applebee's owned by Doherty Enterprises are hosting their 8th annual "Above and 'BEE'yond Teacher Essay Contest."

"The contest encourages local students to write an essay nominating the special teacher who has had the most impact on their educational journey," the company said.

Winning teachers will receive a $500 check to improve their classrooms, as well the chance to have an end-of-year class celebration at their local Doherty-owned Applebee’s!

Students can submit essays in person at participating Doherty-owned Applebee's restaurants across the state, including the location at 1055 Route 70 in Manchester.

For elementary school students, a half-page essay is required for nomination, while middle and high school students must craft a compelling 500-word essay detailing why their teacher is most deserving of this recognition.

As an added incentive, all students submitting essays will receive a complimentary ice cream certificate.

Students can nominate only one teacher. The deadline to nominate teachers is 10 p.m. Sunday, March 17. The winners are scheduled to be announced Friday, April 19.
