MANVILLE, NJ — The Manville School District Board of Education announces two vacant positions on the Board of Education, offering an opportunity for dedicated residents of the Manville community to contribute to the district's educational governance.

The appointed term for the selected candidates will extend from the appointment date through December 31, 2024.

Eligible residents of Manville Borough who are interested in serving on the Board are invited to submit a letter introducing themselves and outlining their interest in the position.

The deadline for submitting these letters is 12 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 15.

The Board of Education will conduct interviews during the public session of the regular board meeting on Jan. 17.

Letters of interest should be directed to Mrs. Jamie Chaya, Administrative Assistant to the School Business Administrator/Board Secretary, either by mail at 1100 Brooks Boulevard, Manville, NJ 08844 or via email at jchaya@manvillesd.org.

To meet legal requirements, interested candidates must:

  • Be a citizen of the United States of America
  • Be at least 18 (eighteen) years of age
  • Be able to read and write
  • Have been a resident of Manville for at least one year preceding the appointment date
  • Not be disqualified as a voter pursuant to N.J.S.A. 19:4-1
  • Be a registered voter in the district
  • Not be disqualified from membership due to the conviction of crimes pursuant to N.J.S.A. 18A:12-1*
  • *Within 30 days of appointment to the board, a member must undergo a criminal history background check through the New Jersey Department of Education.
