Manville Schools To Close Tuesday Due To Snow

This marks Manville's fourth school closure day which changes the last day of school for students.

MANVILLE, NJ — All Manville Township Schools will be closed on Tuesday due to forecasted snow.

"This decision is grounded in a thorough assessment of current and projected weather conditions, road safety, and the timing of the impending weather event. The decision to close was made in conjunction with local agencies, including the Manville Department of Public Works, Office of Emergency Management, and Police Department, and we collectively worked to prioritize safety," said Manville School Superintendent Jamil Maroun.

Having already utilized the district's two allocated snow days and now facing a fourth closure day, the 2023-2024 Manville School District Calendar outlines a plan for managing additional closures.

In this scenario, previously scheduled days off will be repurposed as regular attendance days in a specific sequence (June 14, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 24, 25, 26, 27). Additionally, the last In-Service day for staff will follow the final day of school for all students.

As a result of this closure, the last day of school for students and Graduation for Manville High School is now slated for June 17, and for all staff, it will be June 18. Please take note that June 12 and 13 will be full days of school, while June 14 and 17 will be early dismissal days.

The National Weather Service(NWS) has issued a Winter Storm Warning from midnight on Monday through 3 p.m. on Tuesday.

The NWS is predicting 4 to 8 inches of snow could fall in Manville.

Temperatures will reach a high of 38 on Tuesday and snow, possibly mixing with rain, will arrive mainly before 1 p.m. which could be heavy at times.

It will also be breezy, with a northeast wind 15 to 20 mph becoming northwest in the afternoon.
