Police Catch Alleged Burglar in Foot Chase

Man jumped out of second story window on Curtiss Place and led officers on a chase.

Maplewood Police arrested a 27-year-old Union man on Monday morning after they said the man jumped from the second-story window of a house on Curtiss Place.

Two officers were responding to an alarm activation when they saw James McMillon jump from the house's second floor and begin to run, police said. Police believe McMillon was in the process of attempting to burglarize the house when the alarm was activated.

The officers, Rodney Tannenbaum and Rich Wright, chased McMillon through several backyards, catching him on Hickory Drive.

"We were very fortunate to get there when the suspect was still on the scene," said Capt. John Perna. As of this afternoon, McMillon had not yet been formally charged, said Perna.
