MARLBORO, NJ — A man has died after a car struck a telephone pole on Route 79 Saturday night, Marlboro Police Captain Stephen Levy told Patch.

At 10:45 p.m. on Saturday, Levy said police received several 911 calls about a Honda Accord that struck a telephone pole on Route 79, causing the pole and utility wires to block the roadway.

Once officers arrived at the scene, Levy said they saw a male driver inside the vehicle that had to be extricated by the fire department. The man was the only person in the car.
