The lab/terrier mix named "Buster" was last seen Tuesday near Clover Hill Road

This article was updated with new information on Thursday, Jan. 16.

After what may have felt like an eternity to some, a Clover Road family was finally reunited with their dog, Buster, who ran away Tuesday.

The lab/terrier mix was found a half an hour after he’d gone missing, and just a few houses down from where the family lives. But no one knew that and the Cumbo family continued their search by reaching out to local police departments and businesses and distributing flyers.

“Children in my neighborhood were all searching for him, as we had flyers everywhere. One child told another and finally, hours later, the family realized it was our dog, etc., and called us,” said Cara Cumbo.

Cumbo said she would like to extend a “thank you” to the Colts Neck, Marlboro and Holmdel police departments, the Tinton Falls Animal Control Officer, and businesses that allowed them to place flyers in their windows, as well as family and friends and Patch readers who helped.

“We were all frantic and thank you to everyone,” she said.

She said that if she had to do it over again, she would go door-to-door and ring everyone’s doorbell. If she had, she may have found Buster a little earlier.

“Very happy ending. So as our family and friends were knee deep in woods and creeks, all I had to do and should have done was go door to door and ring bells the old fashion way,” she said.

A Clover Hill Road family needs some help.

On Tuesday, the family’s 14-year-old black lab/terrier mix, Buster, ran away, and the family has been looking night and day for him.

The family has visited shelters, alerted the Colts Neck Police Departent and is now reaching out to Patch readers for help.

Waiting at home are two young girls, a 3-year-old and a 4-year-old.

A flyer distributed by the family says Buster is black with a white stripe on his chest and a grayish face. He was last seen on Clover Hill Road.

Anyone who sees the dog is asked to call 646-327-4483 or 917-972-2163 day or night.
