Fire Collapses Kitchen Floor Of Morganville Home

MORGANVILLE, NJ — The kitchen floor of a Morganville home collapsed after a fire broke out in the basement on Monday, Robertsville Volunteer Fire Company #1 said.
Around 2 p.m. on Monday, the fire company, along with the Morganville Fire Department, was requested for a smoke condition in a home on Rachael Drive in Morganville’s district.
Once Robertsville Volunteer Fire Company Chief Brandon Beja arrived at the home, he advised that smoke was showing and requested that the box alarm be transmitted.

According to the fire company, the Morganville Fire Department arrived shortly after and stretched two lines into the home.
Marlboro Police also responded to the scene and found smoke coming from the back of the house, Marlboro Police Captain Stephen Levy said.

Crews reported heavy smoke down to the floor, with a collapse of the kitchen floor, and located fire in the kitchen and basement that was quickly extinguished, officials said.
According to the Morganville Fire Department, crews operated/remained on scene for about 2.5 hours before clearing the scene. No injuries were reported.
According to Levy, it appears the fire may have originated in the basement.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Marlboro Township Fire Bureau and Marlboro Township Police Department.
