Marlboro First Aid Squad Member Remembered As 'Hero' By Town
Mayor, others pay respects to Herb Steinberg, who died April 2, a founding member of the Marlboro First Aid Squad.

MARLBORO, NJ —Local officials are expressing "deep sadness" at the passing April 2 of Herbert J. "Herb" Steinberg, 88.
"Herb was a 50-plus-year resident of Marlboro, founding member and later captain of the Marlboro First Aid Squad, and resident of Greenbriar," Mayor Jonathan Hornik said.
Hornik said he "was honored to present Herb with a proclamation in 2018 recognizing his lifetime service."

"Our deepest condolences to Herb's family, his brothers and sisters at the Marlboro First Aid and Rescue Squad, Inc. and to our community who lost a hero. May his memory be a blessing," Hornik wrote in a post.
And the Township Police Department also expressed condolences, recognizing Steinberg's service to the Marlboro First Aid Squad and township residents. "You will be missed," the department said.

According to an obituary, which can be found here, Steinberg had a "passion for saving lives, best exhibited through his work as a CPR instructor. In that capacity, he taught the most important lifesaving skill for 33 years to thousands of individuals, both EMS volunteers and healthcare providers at CentraState Medical Center in Freehold. He will be most fondly remembered for his dedication to his community, as a founding member and later Captain of the Marlboro First Aid Squad."
A funeral service will be held Sunday, April 7, at 11 a.m. at Bloomfield-Cooper Jewish Chapels, 44 Wilson Ave., Manalapan, 07726. You can read more details here.
