Marlboro High School Students Win NJ Consumer Bowl

MARLBORO, NJ — Students from Marlboro High School returned to Monmouth County as champions after winning the 2025 NJ Division of Consumer Affairs Consumer Bowl.
The state finals were held in May at the Richard J. Hughes Justice Complex in Trenton. Prior to attending state finals, Marlboro won the Monmouth County and Central Region Consumer Bowl competitions.
At state finals, the Marlboro team defeated the Northern Region winner (Passaic County Technical Institute) and the Southern Region winner (Gloucester City High School).

The annual competition (organized by the NJ Division of Consumer Affairs) draws participation from over 70 high schools and nearly every county across the state, said Commissioner Erik Anderson, liaison to the Monmouth County Division of Consumer Affairs.
Over three levels of competition, participating students answer a variety of questions related to the Consumer Fraud Act on topics such as home improvement contractors, gift cards, cryptocurrency, identity theft, internet issues and amusement games.

“This championship reflects the dedication and hard work of the team,” Anderson said. “And I wish them continued success in their future endeavors.”
The members of the state champion Marlboro Consumer Bowl team are Summer Adler (captain), David Tabak, Chase Sussman, Kayla Newman, Sara Kachhia-Patel, and alternate Valerie Mylnarsky. The team’s advisors are Patrick Scinto and Nicole Bendik. Marlboro High School’s principal is David Bleakley.
On June 26, the team was honored during the Monmouth County Board of County Commissioners’ Workshop Meeting.
“On behalf of the Monmouth County Board of County Commissioners, I want to congratulate Marlboro High School’s Consumer Bowl Team on winning the 2025 New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs High School Consumer Bowl,” said Commissioner Director Thomas Arnone.
“Following their state championship win in 2024, Marlboro continued its outstanding success with another well-deserved victory in 2025,” Arnone continued. “Congratulations to the team on this remarkable achievement!”
The Monmouth County Division of Consumer Affairs has five investigators who actively assist residents with consumer issues.
The division’s staff has the resources and the authority to investigate complaints about billing, gift cards, home repair, car sales and repairs, scams and more. The division also annually investigates more than 600 complaints and attempts to mediate solutions.
