No Plans to Open Permanent Shelter in Marlboro, Outages Still Widespread

Currently, there are no plans to open a permanent shelter in Marlboro Township, according to Mayor Jon Hornik.

"We don't have the ability to open a permanent shelter," he said.

There are four temporary charging stations set up in Marlboro, where residents can also go to take a seat in the warmth. 

• Robertsville Fire Station on Rt. 520
• Morganville Independent Fire Station Rt. 79
• Court House at Municipal Complex (cell phones only, no laptops or tablets)
• Marlboro Recreation Center

The Marlboro Police Department is currently taking in medication which needs to be refrigerated, such as insulin. 

Hornik said parents with stir crazy kids can head to the Recreation Center, where the staff has set up activities in the gym.

The mayor also said some residents will begin to see power restored today, but getting the entire town back online will still take days.

As of 11:30 p.m., over 13,000 Marlboro residents are still without power, according to the JCP&L outage map.

Those with medical needs should call 9-1-1 in an emergency.
