Most JCP&L Customers In Marlboro Have Power Restored

JCP&L customers without power in Marlboro was reduced to 93 by Wednesday morning, according to the utility.

MARLBORO, NJ — As of this morning, Jersey Central Power & Light reports that power has been restored to all but 93 customers in the township - down from a high of 2,169 outages on Wednesday.

More than 10,000 outages were reported in the entire county, mainly Western Monmouth, Wednesday morning. That county number is now 670 as of 9 a.m. Thursday.

Mayor Jonathan Hornik said in a 7 p.m. update Wednesday that JCP&L confirmed that the 1,200-customer outage near Texas Road has been restored. Wednesday night, forestry personnel was on route to address other issues in the township.

Police said roads that had been closed Wednesday are reopened, other than a partial closure on Texas Road for flooding by Tylers Lane.

The Marlboro Recreation Center was to have remained open all Wednesday night - until all residents had power - to serve as a device charging/warming center, Hornik said in an update Wednesday. The center is at 1996 Recreation Way, Marlboro, 07746. the phone number is 732-617-0367. For all devices, bring your charging cords and plugs. Outlets/power strips are provided.

Meanwhile, the township will keep an eye on a weekend storm that is expected.

"Our Office of Emergency Management is tracking another storm expected to impact our area Friday night through Saturday with heavy rain and strong winds," Hornik said.

Residents should report power outages to JCP&L by calling 888-LIGHTSS. One neighborhood and even street can be on different circuits, he said.
