Seven Marlboro Streets Dedicated to Honor Victims of September 11
Marlboro Township lost 14 residents during the terrorist attacks in New York City on September 11, 2001.
Marlboro Township honored seven of its former residents on Saturday, who were victims of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, with honorary street dedication ceremonies.
Family and friends gathered at seven different streets in Marlboro to remember their loved ones and watch as permanent township fixtures were unveiled all over town.
The idea began at a Town Council meeting in 2011, when Sami Court resident Bernie Sokal approached council to with a petition to dedicate his street to Al Conde, a victim of Sept. 11.

Councilwoman Carol Mazzola suggested streets be dedicated in honor of all victims in Marlboro, and Council President Jeff Cantor offered the help of the Marlboro Sunshine Fund to pay for the project.
Marlboro lost 14 residents on Sept. 11, and seven families accepted the offer to dedicate streets in the township.
