Two Motorcyclists Die In Route 18 Five-Vehicle Crash In Marlboro

A crash Monday night in Marlboro involving three cars and two motorcycles was fatal for the two bike riders.

MARLBORO, NJ — Two motorcycle riders died at the scene of a multi-vehicle crash on Monday night on Route 18 north in Marlboro, Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago announced Tuesday.

At about 9:30 p.m. on Monday night, July 24, the Marlboro Township Police Department responded to Route 18 northbound near Route 520 for a report of a motor vehicle crash, the prosecutor's office said.

The officers found that the collision involved three motor vehicles and two motorcycles.

A 2019 Hyundai Tucson, a 2017 Subaru Impreza and a 2008 Mercedes-Benz 550 were the three vehicles involved in the crash, along with a 2005 Suzuki GSX and a 2001 Yamaha YZF motorcycle, the prosecutor's office said.

Both motorcycle riders were pronounced deceased at the scene, authorities said.

The identities of the victims were not released by authorities.

The driver of the Tucson and a passenger were taken to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, the prosecutor's office said.

Marlboro police said that Route 18 was closed until 5 a.m. Tuesday because of the accident investigation. The crash happened at about 9:30 p.m. Monday, police said.

An investigation involving members of the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, Monmouth County Serious Collision Analysis Response Team (SCART) and Marlboro Township Police Department is active and ongoing at this time.
