LIGHTS

Residents are encouraged to “light up your neighborhood” by having lights on inside and outside the house. A dark house is a giveaway and an easy target for trouble. Always make sure your house looks like someone is home. Leave lights on when you go out. Make sure all porches, entrances and yards are well-lighted. Thieves hate bright lights.

SAFETY AT YOUR FRONT DOOR

Never automatically open your front door. Make sure you know your caller's identity before admitting them. If the person at your door is a stranger, ask for identification.

In addition, solicitors and canvassers are required to obtain a permit from the township clerk. Copies of these permits are on file with the police department. Residents are urged to immediately report any suspicious persons and/or activity.
