Aberdeen PD: Sweepstake Scam Reported, Harassment
Police activity between March 14 and March 21

The Aberdeen Township Police Department responded to or initiated 357 calls for service between March 14 and March 21, including 17 suspicious persons/vehicles; 19 alarms; 22 first aid calls; 12 motor vehicle crashes; 13 thefts; eight disorderly persons; and 111 motor vehicle stops, according to Aberdeen Chief of Police John Powers. Officers issued 68 motor vehicle summonses.
The Aberdeen Township Police made the following arrests March 14 through March 21:
- A 28-year-old Aberdeen resident was charged by P.O. Louis Nanna on March 15 with sexual assault.
- P.O. Roger Peter arrested an 18-year-old Neptune man on March 15 for contempt of court out of Aberdeen municipal court.
- On March 16 P.O. Craig Hausmann arrested Randher S. Mann, 43, and Gupreet Singh, 35, both of Queens, NY, for criminal mischief and criminal trespass following an incident in the parking lot of Strathmore Lanes.
- P.O. Louis Nanna arrested a 29-year-old Holmdel man on March 16 for contempt of court out of Aberdeen and Perth Amboy municipal courts.
- A 46-year-old Lincroft woman was arrested by P.O. Raymond Campbell on March 17 for contempt of court out of Ocean Township municipal court following a motor vehicle stop.
- A 27-year-old Aberdeen resident was arrested by P.O. Edgar Serrano on March 17 for contempt of court out of Perth Amboy municipal court.
- Special Officer Michael Scarpa arrested a 42-year-old Aberdeen man for contempt of court out of South Amboy municipal court on March 17.
- Two juveniles were taken into custody by P.O. Frank Maisano for criminal mischief following an incident on Shadynook St. on March 19.
- A 19-year-old Matawan woman was arrested by P.O. Frank Maisano on March 19 for contempt of court out of Satreville municipal court following an incident on Shadynook St.
- A 23-year-old Bronx man was arrested by P.O. Matthew Lloyd on March 19 for contempt of court out of Aberdeen municipal court.
- P.O. Matthew Lloyd arrested a 38-yearold Staten Island man on March 19 for violation of a court order. P.O. Frank Maisano conducted the initial investigation.
- P.O. Frank Maisano arrested a 29-year-old Aberdeen man for possession of marijuana following a motor vehicle stop on Cliffwood Ave. on March 20. He was also issued summonses for disregard of a traffic signal and possession of CDS while operating a motor vehicle.
- A 32-year-old Long Branch man was arrested by P.O. Martin Walsh on March 20 for contempt of court out of Aberdeen municipal court.
- A 24-year-old Bayonne man was arrested by P.O. Michael Lasko on March 21 for contempt of court out of Seaside Heights, Jersey City, and Weehawken municipal courts.
- Sgt. Henry Chevalier arrested a 50-year-old Matawan woman on March 21 for shoplifting at the Stop and Shop store on Highway 34.
Other police activity during that period:
- A resident of Fairfield Way reported that sometime between March 10 and March 14 someone entered his residence through a rear window. Nothing was reported taken. P.O. Mary Johnston investigated.
- On March 14 a resident of Shore Concourse reported the theft of the driver side mirror from his vehicle. P.O. Matthew McDow responded.
- P.O. John Young investigated a report of harassment at Belaire Court on March 15.
- On March 14 a resident of Norwood Lane reported harassment to P.O. Louis Nanna.
- On March 15 P.O. Matthew McDow responded to a report of disorderly persons on Delaware Ave.
- On March 16 P.O. Michael Lasko responded to a dispute between customers at the Shop Rite on Lloyd Road.
- On March 16 a Sherwood Drive resident reported that a phone caller attempted to obtain her banking information. P.O. Mary Johnston investigated.
- On March 16 a Cliffwood Ave. resident reported she was a victim of a sweepstakes scam after she wired money in order to claim a prize. P.O. Matthew McDow responded and Det. Manny Carabel is investigating.
- P.O. Gus Grivas investigated the theft of scrap metal from a residence on West Prospect Ave. on March 17.
- P.O. Martin Walsh investigated criminal mischief to a vehicle parked in the lot at Strathmore Gardens on March 17.
- On March 17 P.O. Martin Walsh responded to a report of harassment on Fourth St.
- A resident of Canfield Lane reported the theft of a bicycle on March 18. P.O. Martin Walsh investigated.
- On March 19 a resident of Central Ave, reported that his bicycle was stolen from the train station over the weekend. P.O. Gus Grivas investigated.
- On March 19 a resident of Idlebrook Lane reported that someone used his name and social security number to fraudulently file a tax return. P.O. Matthew Lloyd investigated.
- P.O. Martin Walsh investigated harassing text messages reported by a resident of Avalon apartments, Central Ave. on March 19.
- On March 19 P.O. Raymond Campbell issued a summons to a Freehold residence for being in Storyland Park after hours.
