Augie DeNardo, 77, of Matawan Dies

Augustino "Augie" DeNardo, 77, of Matawan, New Jersey, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on February 24, 2012 at Care One Nursing Home in Holmdel, New Jersey.

Augie was born on May 2, 1934 in the Bronx, New York, where he grew up. In 1958, he and his wife Mary moved to Somerville, New Jersey and in 1960 relocated to Hazlet, New Jersey to raise their family. Ultimately in 1985, they settled in the Matawan/Old Bridge area of New Jersey.

Augie was a communicant of Most Holy Redeemer Church in Old Bridge, New Jersey. He loved to travel. In his travels, Augie had taken two road trips to the West Coast and back to New Jersey and greatly enjoyed going to visit Atlantic City. He was an avid Yankee fan and New York Giants fan and like to spend time with his family and friends.

He was predeceased by his parents, Pasquale and Florence DeNardo. Augie is survived by his beloved and devoted wife of fifty-eight years (February 6, 1954), Mary O'Brien DeNardo, his loving children, James DeNardo and his wife Ronnie of Aberdeen, New Jersey, Michael DeNardo and his wife Valerie of Hazlet, New Jersey, Patrick DeNardo and his wife Amy of Keyport, New Jersey, his dear sister and brother, Josephine Koll of Monroe, New York, Anthony DeNardo and his wife Helen of New Milford, New Jersey and his cherished grandchildren, Marie, Patrick, Tara, Andrew, RaeJillian, and Max DeNardo. He will be sadly missed, but never forgotten.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Sunday, February 26, 2012, 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 PM and Monday morning, February 27, 2012, 8:30 to 9:15 AM, at the Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 3269 State Route 35 North, Hazlet, New Jersey 07730. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at Most Holy Redeemer Church, 133 Amboy Road, Matawan, New Jersey, on Monday, February 27, 2012 at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery, 360 Broadway, Keyport, New Jersey, 07735. Memorial contributions can be made in memory of Augie to the Old Bridge First Aid Squad or any of First Aid Response teams in your local area and would be greatly appreciated.
