Brookdale Community College student Hector Santiago, of Matawan, has been awarded a $5,000 scholarship to study in Japan for the Fall 2012 academic semester.
Santiago is a liberal arts major and an active member of Brookdale’s Asia Society. He will study intensive Japanese in Tokyo.
Santiago was selected by The Fund for Education Abroad (FEA) as one of 12 highly qualified students from a pool of 224 applicants representing over 190 U.S. colleges and universities.

In keeping with the FEA’s mission, FEA scholars reflect groups typically under-represented in study abroad and who wish to study in non-traditional destinations.
