The 2011-12 Matawan-Aberdeen Midgets and qualified as the first team ever from the storied history of Matawan-Aberdeen football to qualify for the National Championships in Orlando, Fla.
After posting a record of 10-1, the Huskies traveled to Florida and lost to the eventual national champions. The team was coached by Head Coach Michael Malta, former NFL star Charlie "John " Rogers, Jamil Hill, George Brewton, Joe Stoia, Scott Bellone, Wes Thompson, James "knowlegepower" Mason, John "shark" McKinney, Rusty "Nail" Neal.
The team managed to win the first ever AYF Midget Conference Championship with the number 1 rated defense in the shore and the explosive pro-style offensive attack that combined a bruising running game and spread offense attack. With their presence being felt in Florida, teams from around the country wanted to meet the team and the coaches. Jersey Shore Football was validated in Fla. and more importantly, the kids made it happen on and off the field.
