
Marlene J. Butler, 59, of Matawan, peacefully departed this life on Saturday, March 3, 2012 at her home. She was born on December 4, 1952 in Long Branch. Marlene was raised in Morganville where she attended and graduated from Marlboro school system in 1971. Marlene accepted Christ early in her life and was a member of Wicker Memorial Baptist Church, Morganville where she enjoyed her church family. Marlene also enjoyed helping to raise her grandson, Christian "Boogie" Hall.
She was predeceased by her parents, Johnnie and Barbara Brookins; her husband, Webster Butler; her brother, Johnnie Brookins Jr.; and her nephew, Aaron "AD" Lee. She leaves to celebrate her life, her daughter, Erica Butler and her grandson, Christian Hall of Matawan; her sister, JoAnn Lee (Aaron) of Georgia; her brother, Alvin Brookins (Angie) of North Carolina; nieces and nephews, Africa Nelson, Edmund Brookins and Ashley Lee; godchildren, Alterique Watson, Kelly and Karen Davis; and a host of loved ones, friends and a special friend, Rev. Brenda Bellamy.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit from 10 a.m. Saturday, March 10 until service time at 11 a.m. at Wicker Memorial Baptist Church, 180 Greenwood Road, Morganville. Burial to follow at Shorelands Memorial Gardens, Hazlet.
