Loving mother and grandmother, Patricia Prunty, 75, of Keyport, died on August 2nd at St. Peter's University Hospital with her family by her side.
Born Patricia Ann Griffin in the Bronx, NY, she was daughter of William Griffin of Ballinspittle, Ireland, and Margaret Griffin of NY. A few years after her graduation from Mother Cabrini High School, Patricia secured a position at Reynolds and Co. in NYC where she worked for several years before meeting her future husband John Prunty, a proud member of the NYPD (as was her father, William and eventually her son, Jon). After marrying, she moved to Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, where she began raising her five children before eventually resettling in Staten Island.
Patricia was a courageous, fun and thoughtful woman who would open her heart to anyone in need. After moving to NJ, she became a dedicated and well-respected volunteer at Bayshore Community Hospital in Holmdel. In addition to her volunteer work, Patricia enjoyed sewing, gardening and had a great passion for reading--especially mysteries and thrillers. Patricia also loved to travel and did so extensively with her daughters.
