Obituary: Paul Marino, 85, of Aberdeen

Paul Marino, 85, of Aberdeen, passed away, Thursday, September 20, 2012, at home.

He was born in New York City. He graduated from New York City’s Commerce High School, and volunteered to join the United States Marine Corp during WWII, serving in the China Theatre. He was employed by the New York City Postal Service as a clerk from 1947 through 1983; and rose to the rank of Quality Control Officer, in the Church Street Station in Manhattan. He was elected and served two terms as Vice President of Branch #100 National Association of Postal Supervisors. Upon retirement, he became a member of Branch #23 National Association of Retired Federal Employees, and the Bronx WWII Veterans. He then became President of the Pru-Paul Direct Mail Service. He was a helpful volunteer at St. Benedict RC Church, serving as usher and member of the Funds Counting team for 15 years. He enjoyed meeting with friends at the Matawan Aberdeen Public Library, discussing politics, old movies and gardening. He enjoyed playing and helping to raise his grandchildren, and was doubly in joy playing with his great grandchildren.

Paul was predeceased by his beloved wife, Providence Marino; and his parents, Giuseppe and Francesca Mauro Marino; and a brother, Anthony. He is survived by a son, Joseph; a daughter, Donna Thomas and husband, Robert; grandchildren, Amanda Rinderer and husband, Rudy, III; Jordan Thomas; Jill and Kimberly Marino; great grandchildren, Rudy Rinderer, IV and Jack Rinderer; several first and second cousins. Paul will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Family and friends are invited Sunday, September 23, 2012, 3-5PM at Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place, Keyport, NJ  07735; and Monday, September 24, 2012, 10AM at the funeral home, with an 11AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Benedict RC Church, Holmdel.
