
was born in Bay Ridge, where he attended William E. Grady High School in Brooklyn and learned his trade as an electrician.
In 1978, he moved to Staten Island, where he lived in Huguenot for 11 years before settling in Marlboro, N.J.
Mazzilli worked as an electrician for over 20 years, and was currently working at the Eaton Corporation, a global power management company.

He was also a volunteer at the Keyport Hook and Ladder Fire Company. When the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, occurred, Mazzilli and his brother, Paul, were among the first responders to the World Trade Center, and worked tirelessly to set up electrical equipment needed for the relief effort. For his volunteer efforts in the days following Sept. 11, Mazzilli will be memorialized on a plaque at the September 11 memorial site in Manhattan.
In addition to his brother, Paul, surviving are his wife of 27 years, the former Doreen Russell; three sons, John, Michael and Robert; three more brothers, James Frank, and Richard, and his sister, Clara.
