Anthony "Mr. Tony" Falcone Jr., 79, of Matawan Dies
Visitation will be Saturday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at the Waitt Funeral Home

Anthony ("Mr. Tony") Falcone, Jr., 79, of Matawan, went home to be with our Lord on January 17 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in Clintonville, Connecticut to the late Anthony and Francis Falcone, he has resided in Matawan for 35 years. Tony served in the Navy and was a veteran of the Korean War Conflict. After serving in the Navy, he worked as the circulation manager for the Newark News and later for the Matawan Keyport Weekly Journal. He then managed Danny's Italian Restaurant in Red Bank for ten years before purchasing the restaurant, "The Church on Main St." in Matawan from 1976-1982, with his partner Danny Murphy. Tony then opened Pizza & Bagels in Weehawkin. In 1992, he joined his wife in operating First Friends Day Care Center in Matawan. He was a member of Calvary Chapel in Old Bridge.
He was a warm and loving man, his friends and neighbors all knew him as "Mr. Tony". His grandchildren, Taylor, Ava, Boaz, and Christian, and Michael and Vinnie, and his great niece and nephews, Casey and Kylie Kruse and Daniel Liam Murphy, all knew him affectionately as Poppy.
He was predeceased by his daughter Aneva Falcone, brother, Carmen Falcone, and sisters Margaret Ann DeAngelis and Maria Grace Falcone.

Surviving is his wife of 40 years Pat ("Miss Pat") Falcone, sons and their wives, Andrew Falcone and Amy, Michael Falcone and Nancy, Mark Falcone and Stacy, George Falcone and Silvana, and daughters, Debi Montemaro and Jennifer Falcone, his brother Dominick Falcone, and his sister, Carmel Falcone Lucibello, his God-daughter Melissa Morris, as well as eleven grandchildren, and six great grandchildren.
Visitation will be Saturday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at the Waitt Funeral Home, 501 Hwy 79, Morganville. A repast will be served at First Friends Day Care Center, 269 Hwy 34, Old Bridge between 4:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. on Saturday. The funeral ceremony will be on Sunday, January 22 at 3:30 p.m. in Calvary Chapel Old Bridge, 123 White Oak Lane, Old Bridge. There will be a short Memorial Service in the funeral home on Monday at 12:45 p.m. with interment to follow, with full military honors, in Brig. William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery, Wrightstown.
