Catch 'The Smurfs' on the Lawn at Matawan Community Center

Shore Flicks will play 'The Smurfs' outside the community center Wednesday night.

Catch a free movie on the lawn outside of the Matawan Community Center just after sundown Wednesday night.

“Our goal is to bring back the outdoor family movie experience by echoing the nostalgic feel of the drive-in movie theater, which was invented in New Jersey,” said Shore Flicks owner TJ Brustowicz.

While audiences enjoys the movie, Shore Flicks will be collecting non-perishable food items to be distributed to food banks and pantries throughout the area. They are aiming to surpass last year's total of 1000 pounds of food collected by the end of the summer.

This year, the Shore Flicks Free Summer Movie Series will also support two local charities, Clean Ocean Action and Kick Cancer Overboard.

Movies will begin about 30 minutes after sundown and are shown on Shore Flicks' 16-foot screen. Movie nights are free of charge for both audiences and towns due to the many local sponsers and businesses Shore Flicks has.
