'Humble, Hardworking' Matawan Teen Nominated As Star Student

MATAWAN, NJ — Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize Star Students, and we’re working to tell the stories of these outstanding kids to their neighbors.

This submission comes from Keisha Brown, who nominated Chauncey, a 10th grader.

Why do you believe the star local student should be recognized?

Chauncey has been recognized by various organizations for his excellence and commitment to academics, volunteer service and sportsmanship. He was awarded the White House Presidential Volunteer Service Award for 2022.

He was recognized by Aberdeen Mayor Fred Tagliarini with the Mayoral Proclamation for his 86 hours of volunteer community service in soup kitchens and food pantries on the weekends to help combat food insecurity. And he recently received the Student-Athlete Award from Aberdeen-Matawan Regional High school, where he has been a varsity basketball starter on the team.

Chauncey is a humble and hard working young man with an excellent work ethic and a compassion for others.
