Joan Mazzacappa, Loving Mother and Grandmother, Dies at 73

Joan Patricia Mezzacappa, 73, of Matawan, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, March 23, 2013.

Born in Perth Amboy to the late Christian and Frances Diedrickson, Joan lived in Colts neck for 30 years with her husband and six children, before moving to Matawan. She was a proud homemaker, raising her children and spending time with those she loved, her beloved family.

She was an extremely generous woman and very giving, always making dreams come true. She loved swimming and hosting family parties and events. She was a wonderful and loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know her.

Joan is predeceased by her sons Kier and Sam Mezzacappa Jr. She leaves behind to carry on her legacy, her devoted husband Sam Mezzacappa; children Christian Mezzacappa Sr. and wife Marybeth, Avis Gardell-Feldstein and husband Steven, Kelly Wiggett and husband Robert and Dina Pipitone; 8 grandchildren and her sisters Christine DeLisi and Ann Hratko.
