Join the Aberdeen Police Department for National Night Out

The Aberdeen Police Department is encouraging residents to participate in the National Night Out Against Crime on Tuesday, Aug. 7, along with over 15,000 communities from across the United States, according to the National Night Out (NNO) website.

The department is asking everyone to turn on their exterior lights and come out on their front lawns, meet their neighbors, and make a symbolic stand against crime between 7 p.m. and 10 p.m.

According to Chief of Police John Powers, the goal of the evening is to generate support for, and participation in, anti-crime programs such as Neighborhood Watch.

The Aberdeen Township Police Department is encouraging all residents to take part in the 2012 National Night Out on August 7, 2012. Residents should turn on their exterior lights, get out on their front steps or lawns and meet their neighbors.

National  Night Out, begun in 1984, is a way that residents can help prevent crime by joining with their neighbors to let criminals know they are fighting back. It is hoped that National Night Out will generate support for, and participation in, anti-crime programs such as Neighborhood Watch.
