Keyport Man Indicted on Attempted Murder Charge

Man and two alleged accomplices also indicted on armed robbery and aggravated assault charges

A Keyport man was indicted by a Monmouth County grand jury on charges that he allegedly robbed and attempted to murder someone in Keansburg with the assistance of two accomplices.

Investigators say that Yusef Francis, 20, conspired with Sean McAleese, 19, of Highlands and Jordon Edmonds, 20, of Union Beach to rob the victim with a knife. During the robbery, investigators allege that all three men assaulted the victim, "causing serious bodily injury under circumstances manifesting extreme indifference to the value of human life," the indictment states. Investigators also say that Francis, who was allegedly in possession of the knife, attempted to kill the victim.

Francis is charged with first degree attempted murder, fourth degree unlawful possession of a weapon, third degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, second degree aggravated assault, third degree conspiracy, and first degree armed robbery.
