Matawan-Aberdeen Teen Nominated As A Star Student

Here's why this eighth grader at St. Benedict Catholic school in Holmdel shines:

MATAWAN, NJ — Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize Star Students, and we’re working to tell the stories of these outstanding kids to their neighbors.

This submission comes from Erin Michels, who nominated Hannah, from Matawan-Aberdeen, and who is in the eighth grade at St. Benedict Catholic school in Holmdel.

Why do you believe the star local student should be recognized?

Hannah is a shining example of a star student. As a member of the National Junior Honor Society, Hannah is a dedicated and high-achieving student who serves her community, including fulfilling the position of treasurer on the St. Benedict School Student Council.

Academically, Hannah is currently taking algebra at St. John Vianney High School as an eighth grader and was recently accepted into the St. John Vianney business program. Hannah is also a talented athlete, playing both basketball and softball. She is currently preparing to play the leading role of Anna in the St. Benedict School production of "Frozen" and was selected to participate in an academic competition regarding Greek historical events.

What's one thing you want everyone to know about the star local student?

While all of Hannah's accolades are incredibly impressive, Hannah stands out most for her kindness, patience and willingness to help others.
