NEW JERSEY — New Jersey's Sixth Congressional District has been represented in Congress by Rep. Frank Pallone, a Democrat, for the past 36 years, since Pallone was first elected to Congress in 1988.

Every two years, a Republican challenges Pallone, but has been unable to unseat him. This year it's Matawan native Scott Fegler.

Matthew Amitrano of Piscataway (Libertarian), Herb Tarbous of Piscataway (Green Party) and Fahad Akhtar of Princeton (Common Sense Independent) are also running.

Fegler and Pallone differ on a wide number of issues: Fegler is a strong supporter of former President Donald Trump, whereas Pallone voted twice for Trump to be impeached. They also differ on immigration, energy — specifically wind turbines off the Jersey Shore, which Pallone supports and Fegler is against — and economic policy.
