Perth Amboy Man Charged with Burglary of Matawan Home

A Miriam Drive home was robbed while the residents were on vacation

A Perth Amboy man was charged with the burglary, theft and criminal mischief after he allegedly broke into a house on Miriam Drive while the homeowners were away on vacation.

A neighbor called police on Mar. 3 at about 5:25 p.m. after they noticed the front window of the home was open and that the window screen was on the front lawn, according to Lt. Ben Smith.

Patrolman Eric Anderson responded to the residence and found that an undetermined amount of jewelry had been taken.

Det. Joe Lovallo was able to obtain fingerprints from the scene, Smith said. The fingerprints were processed by the NJ State Police and determined to be a match for Luis Miguel Valdez-Blanco, 18, of Perth Amboy.

Det. Lovallo and Det. Steve Sakowski located in Valdez-Blanco in Perth Amboy where he was arrested.

Valdez-Blanco was brought to Monmouth County Prison and bail was set at $50,000 with no 10% option.

The investigation is ongoing for possible accomplices, Smith said.
