Submit Your Mural Design For Raritan Bay Waterfront Park

For the first time ever, Middlesex County will hold a mural contest for Raritan Bay Waterfront Park in South Amboy.

(Middlesex County)

SOUTH AMBOY, NJ — For the first time ever, Middlesex County will hold a mural contest for Raritan Bay Waterfront Park in South Amboy.

Submissions for mural ideas will be accepted from artists of all ages and skill levels living in Middlesex County, between February 15 and March 29. The winning mural design will be announced on April 14 and will be painted on the comfort building (the restrooms and water fountain) at Raritan Bay Waterfront Park.

The theme for the mural should be inspired by the land, sea, history or community of the location, and the goal is to create a piece of public art that brings together the residents of South Amboy and Middlesex County.

The winning mural design will be painted by a local muralist — not the person who submitted the idea. The muralist and designer will both be recognized at the site of the mural.

Artists are encouraged to submit their entries between February 15 and March 29. Designs must be submitted using the submission template found on https://discovermiddlesex.com/muralcontest/. A judging committee from the County will choose three designs to go to a public vote from April 7 – April 13, and the winning design will be announced on April 14.

This is held in partnership with the Middlesex County Arts Institute.

“I’m so excited to be showcasing the community and artistic talent that Middlesex County offers through this one-of-a-kind contest,” said Director of the Board of County Commissioners Ronald Rios. “This new mural will bring new vibrance to the historic South Amboy waterfront, a staple of Middlesex County. With spring right around the corner, this contest could not come at a better time, as residents return to enjoying the park’s scenery and amenities."
