Aberdeen is working to amp up their annual celebration. What would you like to see?
The Recreation Department, the Business Council and the Township Council are looking to pack a little more "Aberdeen" into the annual Aberdeen Day celebration this September.
According to Township Manager Holly Reycraft, several events will take place throughout the township in addition to the normal tables, rides and food vendors at .
Plans for Aberdeen Day 2012 now include a morning fishing contest at Cliffwood Beach, day-long sidewalk sales at participating shopping centers, a 'Mayors Trophy' softball game between fire companies at Fireman's Field, and a 'Dine Aberdeen' coupon program.

Mayor Fred Tagliarini explained that the expansion is an effort to emphasize the business community and also more directly incorporate the different sections of the township in the celebration, such as Cliffwood Beach.
"I love Aberdeen Day. The rides are good, the kids have a great time, we have a car show, but we have to expand it," said Tagliarini. "A lot of people want to get involved but they can't leave their business to man a table."
