Temple Beth Ahm to Host Executive Director of Operation Lifeshield

Rabbi Shmuel Bowman will discuss need for bomb shelters in Israel

The following is a message from Temple Beth Ahm:

On Thursday, March 1, at 7 p.m., of Aberdeen is honored to have guest speaker Rabbi Shmuel Bowman, Executive Director of Operation Lifeshield, who will be visiting the United States from Israel to raise both awareness about the need for bomb shelters in Israel and about much needed funding for Operation Lifeshield which helps build them.

Thousands of rockets have hit Israel and terrorist attacks continue daily. In fact, during 2011 alone, over 600 rockets, mortars and missiles were launched at southern Israeli cities and towns from the Gaza Strip. Every Israeli city and every Israeli man, woman, and child is a potential target.

Operation Lifeshield builds, delivers and installs shelters to protect Israeli families and children from these attacks. This organization has already placed over 100 Lifeshield Shelters throughout Israel to protect schools, kindergartens, synagogues, parks, sidewalks, bus stops and senior day centers. However, many more are needed to protect Israelis from the daily attacks that confront them.

Other speakers will include Yoti Yarhi, Head of School, Solomon Schechter Day School of Greater Monmouth County, and attorney Sarah Biser, Co-Chair of the Temple Beth Ahm Israeli Affairs Committee. There will be free baby-sitting available and refreshments will be served. Admission is free, though donations to Operation Lifeshield will be accepted.
