Two Separate DUI Arrests After Vehicle Incidents in Aberdeen Over Weekend
The Aberdeen Police Department made two arrests for DUI following separate vehicle incidents over the weekend,

The Aberdeen Police Department started the first weekend of the national police campaign “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” after making two DUI arrests following two separate vehicles incidents in the township over the weekend.
Aberdeen resident Gary G. Hearn, 53, with driving while intoxicated and reckless driving following a motor vehicle crash that occurred on Saturday, August 16, 2014. At approximately 10:45 p.m., the 2001 Hyundai he was operating struck a parked vehicle on Jersey Ave. There were no reported injuries, according to Aberdeen Police Chief John T. Powers.
Also on August 16, township police charged Tara J. Lee, 32, of Union Beach, with driving while intoxicated, refusal to submit to a breath test, reckless driving, failure to yield to a pedestrian, and other motor vehicle violations following a crash on Atlantic Avenue. According to Chief Powers, at approximately 11:00 p.m., a 66-year-old township man was walking across Atlantic Avenue in the crosswalk near the Aberdeen-Matawan train station when he was struck by a 2010 Toyota operated by Ms. Lee. He sustained head, neck, and back injuries and was transported to Bayshore Community Hospital. Ms. Lee was later released pending a municipal court appearance. Officer Anthony Marone was the arresting officer. Officer Anthony Valentino and Sgt. Darrell Oliver assisted.
