Week Ahead: Special Unified Planning/Zoning Meeting

Monday, Mar. 19
The Unified Planning/Zoning Board of Adjustment of the Borough of Matawan will hold a special meeting on Mar. 19 at 7 p.m. at the . The Board will review a draft (portion of Route 34 and Broad Street) into a new MUD (mixed commercial and multifamily residential) zone. Formal action may be taken. This meeting is open to the public.
The Bayshore Regional Sewerage Authority will meet Monday night at 100 Oak Street in Union Beach. The that handles the raw sewage of eight towns, by transporting, treating and disposing it, and discharging cleaned water into the Raritan Bay. The authority performs this essential service for Union Beach, Holmdel, Keyport, Hazlet, Keansburg, Matawan, Aberdeen and parts of Marlboro. The authority bills the municipalities, which in turn bill the households hooked up to the system via sewer rates.

Wednesday, Mar. 21 - First Day of Spring
The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act ("IDEA") states that all students who are eligible for special education and related services are entitled to a Free and Appropriate Public Education in the Least Restrictive Environment. This workshop, presented by Parents of Special People, Inc, will explore the ways in which the term "appropriate" has been interpreted by the courts as well as how to ensure your child's IEP measures up to the legal standard.
