1 Biker Flees, 1 Goes To Jail After High-Speed Chase In Chester Twp.: Cops

Police were called to North Road for a report of erratic motorcyclists, authorities said.

CHESTER TWP., N.J. – A Morris County man was jailed after he and another motorcyclist tried eluding police in Chester Township, Lt. Edward Noonan said.

Patrols were dispatched to North Road on Thursday, April 14 for a report of two erratic motorcyclists, Noonan said. When Officer Steckel found the bikers on North Road and attempted to stop them, the riders attempted to elude police on the roadway, Noonan said.

The motorcycles “traveled away recklessly at a high rate of speed,” Noonan said, but were forced to slow down for traffic in front of them. One of the bikers tried to pass the slowed traffic and was forced to pull off to the side of the road to avoid an oncoming vehicle, and came to a complete stop on the shoulder of the road unharmed, Noonan said.
