1 Killed In Crash With Garbage Truck In Morris County

A driver was killed early Wednesday after crashing into a garbage truck on U.S. 206 in Mount Olive, authorities said.

MORRIS COUNTY, NJ — One person was killed early Wednesday morning in a crash with a garbage truck on U.S. 206 in Mount Olive, police said.

The crash occurred around 5:45 a.m. in the Flanders section of town, when a vehicle rear-ended a garbage truck, according to the Morris County Prosecutor's Office. The driver of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.

The garbage truck driver was not injured, and there were no passengers in either vehicle, police added.

The driver’s identity has not been released pending family notification.

The crash remains under official investigation by the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office Vehicular Homicide Task Force, the Morris County Sheriff’s Office and the Mount Olive Police Department.
