$20M Mendham School Referendum: In-Person Forums Jan. 6

MENDHAM, NJ — The Mendham Township School District is looking for the community’s vote on Jan. 25 on $19.9 million in bond funding.
There are two information sessions on Thursday, plus a Jan. 12 virtual event, to learn more about the bond referendum.
Thursday's information sessions are at Mendham Township Elementary School’s gym, the first between 10-11:30 a.m. and the second from 6:30 p.m., where residents can speak to teachers, the project architect, financial advisor and other professionals.

A virtual Q&A forum is also planned on Wednesday, Jan. 12 at 6 p.m. on Zoom, at this link. Questions can be answered live or in advance at referendum@mendhamtwp.org.

This bond funding, which would be earmarked for “building repairs and renovations, tech-centered instructional spaces and safety and security upgrades,” would enable the township to use state aid to save 37 percent on costs, according to information from the township and school district. The new debt amount, which would be lower than expiring debt, is expected to decrease taxes $97 per household, based on an average Mendham Township property of $905,519.
To vote in person on Tuesday, Jan. 25, residents can go from 12-8 p.m., with voting district information at www.mendhamtwp.org/vote.
There’s still time to apply for vote by mail through Jan. 18, with the application here. Vote by mail ballots can be dropped into the box at the Morris County Board of Elections at 10 Court Street in Morristown.
