Another COVID Thanksgiving, Christmas? Models Say NJ May Face One
The Department of Health is predicting an increase in COVID cases and corresponding illness between Thanksgiving and Christmas.
NEW JERSEY - While the COVID front has been relatively quiet since the start of the school year, Garden State officials are warning there may be another spike in COVID cases during the holiday season.
"Right now we expect an uptick," New Jersey Department of Health Commissioner Judy Persichilli said during last week's COVID briefing.
According to the latest models from the state Health Department, New Jersey will likely experience an increase in COVID cases by the end of November as the weather forces more activities indoors and people begin holiday visits.

Persichilli noted the modeling showed the increase in cases between Thanksgiving and Christmas.

"But we do expect it to be in a range that the capacity can be handled very well by our hospitals," she said.
