'Born To Be Shorn' Sheep Sheering Coming To Chester Twp.

Annual event will take place May 14 at Cooper Mill.

CHESTER TWP., N.J. – For these winter-worn sheep, it’ll be more than just a little off the top.

The annual Born to be Shorn event in Morris County is coming on May 14 and will be held at Cooper Mill at Black River County Park in Chester Township from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Visitors will see a flock of sheep from Fosterfields Living Historic Farm receive their spring fleece cut.

“Following the shearing, see how fleece is processed to be made into garments. You can help with the various process by washing and carding the fleece, and spinning and weaving the yarn. Watch first-hand as natural fleece is dyed in a pot over an open fire,” said Mark Sutherland, Manager of Historic Sites.

Admission for Born to be Shorn is $3 for adults, $2 for seniors, and $1 for children ages four through 16.
