Car Stolen In Mendham While Owner Warmed It Up: Police
A car was taken in the township on Saturday as a person left it running in their driveway, police cautioning residents to lock their cars.

MENDHAM, NJ — The Mendham Township Police Department shared words of caution with residents about locking their cars, after one resident’s car was stolen while they were warming it up in their driveway on Saturday morning.
“Take your valuables, lock your vehicle, take it with you” and “be aware of your surroundings,” was part of the messaging from the police department on its social media page after the car theft.

“If possible, keep your cars locked when warming them up in cold weather,” the police department wrote.

The police department suggested residents use remote starters if they have them; and not to leave cars running in a garage, even if the door is open.
“Report any suspicious activity,” the police department wrote. “Remember to take your keys and lock your vehicle.”
